Aveda Botanical Kinetics Serums

Serums are, of course, huge, now. HUGE! (We had more entries in the Serums category than any other in last year’s Beauty Bible Awards, and it’s headed that way again.) We’ll certainly be encouraging Aveda to put these 100% vegan and ‘consciously clean’ serums forward for 2022’s Awards, because we’re rather taken with them.

They’re most definitely targeted skin solutions, however, so choose the one which sets out to help your skin challenges. (NB In their branding, Aveda use small ‘b’ for botanical and ‘k’ for kinetics for this range – but we’re sticking with good old-fashioned capital letters.)

If skin is dry and has noticeable fine, dry lines… you want Aveda Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrator, powered by cactus fruit stem cells (cactus being a plant which is renowned for its ability to retain water).

If pores are your problem… then check out Aveda Botanical Kinetics Pore Refiner, which targets the build-up of oil and cellular debris that leads to more visible pores. The key ingredient here is sweet clover stem cells, to purify, along with a de-clogging wintergreen-derived hydroxy acid.

Or if (like us), you’re craving a little more radiance… the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Instant Luminizer is your match. We’ve had great results with this: it quenches skin, sinking in but leaving skin appearing dewy and radiant. It features snow lotus stem cells for radiance, together with plant-extracted alpha hydroxy acids to clear away dead skin cells. (Note: we have historically been sensitive to AHAs, but have had no problem with this).

As ever these new Aveda introductions are pretty strong eco-credentials: 97% natural (though not certified, NB), the manufacturing is offset with 100% solar and wind credits (pioneeringly, that has been the case since the days of the founder, our late lamented friend Horst Rechelbacher), the glass bottle is recyclable, and the carton is 90% post-consumer recycled.

And – because we know scents are important to you – you’ll want to know that these smell definitively ‘Aveda-ish’ – that almost undefinable aromatic, herb-y, aromatherapeutic scent that we’ve certainly loved from the get-go.

Bottom line is that it feels a wee while since Aveda launched anything new on the skincare front, but this serum trio rewards our patience.
