Action for Happiness and 'Friendly February'
Action for Happiness is a wonderful, positive organisation –well, (as they put it) ‘a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society. We want to see a fundamentally different way of life - where people care less about what they can get just for themselves and more about the happiness of others.’
And it says everything, surely, that Action for Happiness’s patron is the Dalai Lama.
We love the quote at the foot of this month’s online calendar – ‘The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer somebody else up,’ from Mark Twain. So we thought we’d share the calendar. It’s achievable. Yes, it’s common sense. But what we like is that at a time when we’re all bunkered down, it nudges us to think about our friendships, relationships and simple ways to improve them.
As they put it, ‘Our acts of kindness and connection ripple out and impact so many more people than we realise - and they also boost our own happy hormones too! In stressful times people around us may be feeling the strain, so let's try to keep calm, take time to listen and show compassion.’
Just that. (And we’re definitely in.)
