Heathcote & Ivory are best-known (and well-loved) for their scented bath and body treats (here is what we said about their fab Bathing Flowers). But honestly, they ought to be in the bag business; the more we see, the more we love… We just had a preview glimpse of some upcoming launches (including a too, too brilliant travel wallet) – but meanwhile, Heathcote & Ivory’s make-up and sponge bags are genius (and gorgeous with it).

This particular example isn’t merely colourfully printed with a stunning, all-the-colours-of-the-rainbow-and-more design by embroidery and textile whiz Kaffe Fassett (who’s created the flower-inspired Achillea and the On Point collections with H&I). Seen above in the centre of the shot flanked by a smaller bag and the rest of the On Point collection of scented treats, it’s as capacious as Mary Poppins’s handbag. We’ve never had a make-up bag into which so much swag can be stashed. Or which is so, so pretty.

Someone pointed out to Jo – who loves a colourful interior – that this was her house in make-up bag form. But if you prefer a muted palette, H&I have paler and subtler tones covered, too, with their Morris & Co. William Morris designs.
