MOA Queen of the Night Treatment (and Aphrodite Facial Oil)

Go to bed tired-looking. (And feeling.) Wake up looking rested, with skin plumped and baby's bottom-soft. Isn't that what we want, in night treatments?

Modern Organic Apothecary (which isn’t, actually, organically-certified but does maintain they use organic ingredients) is based on the ‘wise woman’ culture, and folklore. In the case of Queen of the Night Treatment, though they’re far from native, the skin-savers include prickly pear and cactus flower, as well as aloe – all famed for their moisture-holding powers, which are mirrored when deployed in skincare, and feature here along with squalane, hyaluronic acid, evening primrose and avocado oils. The serum-style moisturising formula is an instant skin drink, leaving our faces supple and touch-me soft.

We’re also pleased pleased to alert you to MOA Aphrodite Facial Oil (below) which has recently been performing that trick for us. It's designed to be suitable for sensitive skins (which ours are), sinking in very nicely indeed. (We've tried several facial oils lately which sit on the surface like an oil slick, and those aren't our tasse de thé at all.)

It features rosehip oil as the No.1 ingredient, along with sunflower seed oil, and there's yarrow extract to help even out skintone, with marshmallow for the calming. Scent-wise, it gets its soft floralcy from Damask rose and from rose geranium – both of which are actives in their own right (rose is good for skins prone to redness, while rose geranium balances). The goddess Aphrodite, so we're told, is associated both with the rose and with yarrow – hence the name.

Not expensive, either (and vegan/cruelty-free, though we'd entirely expect that of a facial oil as a matter of course). On their own site, MOA have 52 x five-star reviews for this, and we're really not surprised.

We know there are facial oils out there for £50+ (and up and up), but this is much more accessibly priced, delivered in a cardboard recyclable tube with an aluminium lid you toss in with the cans.

Both products are just darned nice, on all counts.
